Blackout Stout | Great Lakes Brewing Co.
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Named after the biggest blackout in U.S. history; Great Lakes presents a solid imperial style stout. The aroma is toffee and slightly chocolate, even hints of that roasted malt profile common of the "king of stouts." The foam head is tan and thick, thinner and mellows out while it holds a dark and thick color. You can see carbonation billowing from the bottom even in it's dark hue. Surprisingly smooth and crispy, the malt character cuts through with little hop bite leaving the stout balanced. As you keep drinking you get more of those toffee and chocolate notes that adds an identity to the Blackout. Balanced, but not simple, easy to drink, and smooth for a dark beer. You can catch a strong alcohol aftertaste and it's honestly so refreshing to have such a nice, alcohol finish. Thank you Great Lakes!
